Water Activities

With an unspoiled lake at your backdoor why wouldn’t you want to indulge in some water activities, even in the midst of winter a cruise on the
lake is amazing. During the summer the Frankton arm is a mecca for water sport enthusiasts. It is not only the lake that provides the entertainment
for water sport activities the surrounding rivers and tributaries offer exhilarating experiences, from white water kayaking, river surfing, jet boating,
and white water rafting.

 

Walking Tracks
The Wakatipu Basin is home to an abundance of walking tracks, catering to all levels and abilities. The area is also the gateway to the Fiordland
National Park home to some of the world famous tracks; the Hollyford, Milford, Routeburn and Kepler. The landscape is very diverse, you can wander
through prehistoric forests, lakeshores, riverbanks, alpine ridges, or historic routes all in one day.

There are some excellent fly fishing waters in New Zealand showing the areas magnificent scenery, majestic mountains, beech forest, and crystal
clear mountain rivers and streams, stalking sighted brown and rainbow trout. New Zealand trout fishing is all the richer for taking place in a totally

attractions and activities to be found in the Queenstown area.
 

Hunting
Queenstown offers a top selection of hunting and shooting attractions for outdoor adventure including some of the finest trophy hunting in the world.
Large animals hunted include several types of deer (including red, fallow and sika), chamois, thar, pigs and goats, all of which were introduced to New
Zealand. In most cases hunting helps keep numbers in check benefiting the environment. The areas forests and mountains are physically demanding and
the high country weather unpredictable, local knowledge is essential for a successful hunt there are many hunting specialists in the Queenstown area.
